When you cancel an ILS service, you’ll see the drop in leads.
But for prospects doing branded searches on Search or LLMs, the cancelled listing becomes a “ghost listing”. It’s present, alive and providing data and an experience.
The contact functionality is removed (no form or phone number), but the listing is still a resource in a ChatGPT community comparison or brand analysis, and it’s still connected to your PMS.
Zillow listings become a free branded search plan, providing practically everything: photos, floorplans, pricing, availability, amenities, fees.
And with ILS sites always performing well with SEO, branded searches will have these listings in the Top 10. You can request to have them blocked from being indexed though. Is it worth leaving them be, or is it confusing for prospects to read “This property can’t be contacted right now.”?
